2023 Eighth Annual Tutor Summit
As in past years, the annual Tutor Summit inspired conversation, ideas, and friendship. Thank you for the over 70 tutors, topic guests, board members, and staff who took part, in person, on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the Chester County Boy Scout Council in Exton. A special note of gratitude to Mrs. Shannon Almquist who shared her experiences and guided all of us in Catching our Students [and one another] Being Brilliant. For highlights of the day, please view the following video and photographs.

Balancing Opportunities for English Language Learning
Professor Paul Nation, who teaches and resides in New Zealand, accepted the invitation to be our featured guest and joined us in real time (@ 8 hours in the future) from his home. Tutors, board members, and invited guests gathered in the comfort of their homes and vacation spots while joining VEP friends for this mid-summer event. Mr. Nation is best known for his framework which identifies key areas of language teaching focus, labeled “The Four Strands.” He also emphasizes the benefits of extensive reading, repetition, and learning strategies.
