Dear Friend,
Imagine a place where you can live without war, or, as a woman, attend school without the threat of physical violence.
Imagine being a young parent, living in a neighborhood where your children are guaranteed an education even if you have never sat in a classroom, or learned to read and write in your native tongue.
Imagine sharing your perspective as a global citizen as you become a naturalized American, and casting your first vote. Imagine being a doctor, journalist, or chef — having the gifts of healing, nurturing, and informing — and starting over in a place that appreciates and needs your skills.
These are just a few of the hundreds of reasons that individuals reached out for our help this past year. They join hundreds of others who have come before them — beginning in different places, 42 home countries, speaking 36 different languages and uniting for a purpose… to live in a place where they can be who they were meant to be.
Learning a language is a commitment of time. It requires patience, courage, and a willingness to sacrifice comfort until success is realized. It takes small steps to realize large accomplishments.
Last year, Volunteer English Program (VEP) tutors donated over 10,000 hours of instruction to 279 students, a valuevof $300,000 in educational support. Free companion workbooks, online educational software, professional ESL training, and the remaining operational support depend on donations from friends like you. Individual contributions fulfill our mission to be welcoming, inclusive, and equitable to all who ask for help.
Will you consider making a gift this year so that people who live and work throughout Chester County have confidential access to free Volunteer English Program tutoring in the year ahead?
Every gift you make to VEP stays local. Your donation directly ensures that every VEP tutor is prepared to teach and every adult student has the resources to learn.
Imagine what our world will be like when everyone feels accepted and successful.
Thank you!
